Support for Patients and Communities Act
On 10/24/18 President Trump signed the SUPPORT for PATIENTS and COMMUNITIES ACT (HR6) that positively impacts affected Americans on their recovery from opioid addiction.
The law includes provisions that will break down barriers to long-term recovery including extending Medicare coverage to opioid treatment programs.
It will allow more medical personnel to provide addiction treatment and add telemedicine for those patients who are stable and living in remote areas.Future policy needs to be formulated to make this happen sooner than later, and we are preparing to be involved proactively.
We are always looking to bring improved comprehensive care to our patients. Because a significant number of substance-abuse patients have chronic pain issues as well, we are thrilled to announce that Dr. Mark Young M.D., has agreed to join me on this integrative path to wellness.
Dr. Young is a chronic pain management and rehabilitation specialist and internationally known physiatrist, lecturer, and teacher. He is able to offer opioid alternatives to help us so we no longer need to depend on opiates for relief. He will be on site here at our Towson office as well as in his White Marsh office for consultation and treatment including acupuncture, which has helped many many people.
Limited time availability because of inadequate or no insurance coverage as well as supply and demand for prescribing mental health providers has been partially rectified since the inception of certified psychiatric nurse practitioners who can prescribe psychotropic or mental health medications.
They along with other psychotherapists can provide mental health treatment with behavioral health counseling and coaching for individuals and groups at nominal fees when lack of insurance is an issue.
You will be surprised at how low we have made it so that it is cost affordable even without insurance. It is recommended that you take advantage of this unique opportunity, be it in a group or individual session.
We will make every effort to not place you on a waiting list or make you wait very long on your return appointments. Diane Wood, our nurse and office manager, will call or text you as a reminder before your visits knowing that memory loss is a long-term residual in most every abuser of illicit substances or over-user of prescription medications.
All of us are very excited to bring you these services and look forward to working with you on your road to recovery.
